Walnut Dining Table
This stunning table is made from hand-picked, premium grade Black Walnut, one of the most beautiful and enduring woods in the world. When my client contacted me about building a dining table, he said he wanted something different - a unique table that complimented his own work in the art community. Once I showed him this design, he loved it.
The main table is 42 inches wide and 72 inches long, and comfortably seats six people. A 2-foot long extension slides into each end to make a ten-foot-long table that comfortably seats 10 people. The table top is made up of 5 individual boards. Each board is ten feet long, so when two feet was cut off each end for the extensions, the grain was uninterrupted the entire length of the table. As with all my tables, I used traditional joinery. No metal fasteners of any kind are used. The table was coated with Rubio Monocoat to give it a durable and pleasing satin finish.
